La inminente transición al formato de televisión digital, con su amplio potencial para la interactividad entre contenido y audiencia, sugiere un aparente conflicto con los patrones tradicionalmente pasivos de consumo televisivo. Esta ensayo busca ofrecer una reflexión teórica sobre los efectos que las nuevas posibilidades tecnológicas del medio pueden tener sobre sus procesos narrativos, llevándonos a re-examinar los conceptos de participación e inmersión de la audiencia en esta nueva era de TV digital interactiva. The imminent transition to digital television, with its enhanced potential for interactivity between content and audience, suggests an apparent conflict with the traditionally passive patterns of TV consumption. This essay offers a theoretical consideration of the effects that these new technological affordances of the medium may have on its narrative processes, and calls us to reexamine the concepts of audience participation and immersion in this new stage of digital, interactive TV.
