Resumen

This obituary honors Jesús María Jiménez-Porras (1929–2021), a pioneer in the study of snake venoms in Costa Rica. He was among the first graduates of the School of Microbiology at the University of Costa Rica in the 1950s. He earned his PhD at Louisiana State University (USA), focusing his doctoral thesis on the intra- and inter-specific biochemical geographic variation in reptile species, particularly snake venoms.
