MASCULINO 88 AÑOS CON DISTENSIÓN COLÓNICA AGUDA MASIVA: SÍNDROME DE OGILVIE

Abstract

We present an 88 years-old male patient, with treated type 2 diabetes and hypertension, resident of a nursing home, who came to our hospital for mental status impairment. The clinical assessment showed evidence of upper intestinal tract bleeding and abdominal distension, as well as clinical and laboratory findings suggesting intestinal ischemia. An urgent mini-laparotomy was performed in the emergency room and it showed massive colonic distension, so the patient was taken to surgery room for the appropriate and definitive treatment.

Se presenta el caso de un masculino de 88 años de edad, diabético tipo 2 e hipertenso, residente de una casa de cuido, quien ingresa por alteración del estado de alerta. Se documentó sangrado digestivo alto antiguo y distensión abdominal, con hallazgos clínicos y de laboratorio consistentes con sufrimiento intestinal, por lo que se realizó minilaparotomía de urgencia que demostró dilatación colónica masiva, cuadro compatible con Síndrome de Ogilvie. Fue llevado a sala de operaciones para el tratamiento apropiado.
